| Description: |
This live-distance lecture explains the biomechanics of tissue
response to different types of stretching including dynamic, static
progressive, serial casting, joint manipulation and manual therapy.
Various adjunctive devices are illustrated and the benefits and
limitations compared and contrasted. |
Objectives -
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: |
- Define what is meant by the term “joint contracture.”
- Identify the tissues which may contribut to joint stiffness.
- Explain the difference between elastic and plastic deformation.
- Explain the difference between static progressive stretch
and creep based stretch.
- Identify 3 different approaches to the management of joint
contracture.
